History And Background Information

The Centre of Cooperation was founded in 1975 based on the mutual cooperation agreement between the Ruhr-University Bochum and the Industrial Metal Union. As a permanent point of contact, coordination and initiative, it acts as a central institution in the subject area of work- and labor oriented research and is supported by the state of Northrhine-Westphalia.

There existed an organizational linkage between the rectorate of the Ruhr-University and the IMU with their educational center in Sprockhövel, that was assigned to realize the cooperation together with the IMU's management board.

Almost 50 years of cooperation led to numerous reorganisations of the Cooperation Centre, and eventually resulted in the concept of transfer research in 2015. Our projects are transparently displayed in our goal-oriented participative project management. It is supposed to make our cooperation with multiple partners comprehensible and transparent and is supposed to steer the ongoing process of our content-related profiling.

In the autumn of 2020 the Cooperation Centre moved into a new location in the former Opel administration building (O-Werk). There evolves a new knowledge and science site on the compound of Mark 51°7.
