Gender-specific motives and patterns of understanding in platform work
On 4 November, Sabrina Glanz (center of cooperation RUB/IGM) and Anna Korn (University of Kassel) held a presentation at the FIS Forum 2025 (Solidarity in the Welfare State) of the German Institute for Interdisciplinary Social Policy Research (DIFIS) in the panel ‘Who cares – and who provides security?’
Key findings are
➡️that the effects of inequality are not offset in the context of platform work, but are even exacerbated, e.g. in terms of visibility (especially of women).
➡️that motives, perceptions and safety behaviour differ from sector to sector, but that gender-specific requirements are emerging in every sector.
➡️that the central regulatory issues in the context of platform work continue.
➡️that the EU Directive on platform work does not sufficiently take gender and intersectional discrimination into account.
If you are interested in the results presented in the lecture, please contact Sabrina Glanz or Lara Obereiner.
