The celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the cooperation agreement between IG Metall and Ruhr-Universität Bochum will take place in July 2025

Next year, the Centre of Cooperation RUB/IGM will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the cooperation agreement between IG Metall and Ruhr-Universität Bochum! On this occasion, we would like to look back to 2005, the year in which the Centre of Cooperation RUB/IGM celebrated its 30th anniversary and on the occasion of which a short film was produced.

A co-operation agreement between the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and IG Metall has existed since 1975. On this agreement, the Centre of Cooperation RUB/IGM was established in 1979 as a permanent contact, coordination and initiative centre for work-oriented research.

The short film describes the challenges of structural change in the Ruhr region and explains the background to the conclusion of the cooperation agreement with the aim of organising the reciprocal transfer of knowledge into the world of work. Through its concept of transfer research, the Centre of Cooperation RUB/IGM is an important component in shaping the future of both institutions, the university and the trade union. This co-operation is still considered a milestone in Germany and is becoming increasingly important as an institution, especially against the background of the socio-ecological transformation.
