In May 2023, the "Academy for Co-determination" was founded in cooperation with the RUB Academy and the RUB/IGM Joint Working Group.

The close connection between research and teaching at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum offers ideal conditions for the Academy of the Ruhr-Universität to provide an innovative interdisciplinary educational offer for works and staff councils as well as other co-determination actors with the Academy for Co-determination. The educational and qualification measures are fed by current research and development projects at the Ruhr-Universität, the results of which are translated into digital and classroom formats tailored to the needs of co-determination practitioners. The academy is headed by Prof. Dr. Manfred Wannöffel.
